Stay at The Laylow Waikiki, Hawaii

ALOHA from Oahu island of Hawaii! What better way to spend your birthday than laying low in hawaii? That’s the very reason I booked my birthday trip and decided to stay at the most instagrammable and hip hotel on the island – The Laylow, Autograph Collection. On this trip our main agenda was relaxation and pampering ourselves, and that’s exactly what we experienced here. 

The Laylow is Marriott’s Autograph Collection luxury hotel in waikiki, located very conveniently near all good restaurants, shopping areas and most importantly – the beach. The hotel isn’t beachfront, but Waikiki beach is just a short walk from here and we walked there for the sunrise every morning. One thing I noticed very specifically is that in addition to providing top-notch services and amenities, their staff is very friendly and they know how to make their guests feel at home! 

From the moment we arrived at this property, the first thing we felt was comfort! And secondly, we were mesmerized by the aesthetics of their ambiance. Every corner of this property is so thoughtfully designed with a mid-century modern flair, combining furniture from the vintage era with a funky and modern color palette. The Lobby is divided into 2 main areas: the pool, and Hideout which is the hotel’s coffee shop, bar, and restaurant. 

During our stay here, I spent the most amount of time by the pool as evident from these pictures. The pool is small but very cozy and comfortable and has cabanas in the corner. My favorite place to chill was at the pool chairs – these are semi-submerged in the water lounge chairs by the pool, perfect for laying low and reading your favorite novel on. There’s also shaved ice poolside for all the guests to enjoy. 

I am not exaggerating when I say that Hideout is possibly my favorite place in Waikiki to get breakfast, dinner and even drinks. Every single morning we came to Hideout and ordered fruit parfait along with coffee. Whether you enjoy the indoors or you’re more of a rooftop type of person, Hideout has seating both inside and out. I had the most amazing birthday dinner here while enjoying live music. If you are a whiskey lover, I highly recommend ordering The Getaway cocktail.

As you must have already seen on instagram, every room of the laylow hotel has an iconic, instagram famous cotton candy pink and navy blue monstera leaf print wallpaper. Opposite that, the other main wall has the built-in entertainment center, with books featuring Hawaii local attractions and history, a TV, a mini desk and rattan ottoman. Every room has a small balcony to look over the pool area and our room even had a partial ocean view. Bathrooms are modern, neat and filled with fragrant bath products. 

This hotel definitely changed my perspective about luxury hotels. I always thought top hotels have this modern and earthy vibed palette but never thought luxury could be combined with a hip and funky vibe as well. Also to mirror all the above, the Laylow has been recently voted as one of the top 10 best resort hotels in Hawaii by Travel + Leisure and also won a prestigious travel award with Conde Nast Traveler as the #7 Hawaii Hotel on their Readers’ Choice Awards.
